The West Morris Regional High School District thanks all registered voters who voted in the April 15, 2008 school election. The proposed budget was approved.

Morris County Judge Bozonelis has ordered a Special Election on Tuesday, June 17, 2008, for Mendham Township. The election will be restricted to the two Mendham Township Board of Education candidates, James C. Button and Samuel W. Fairchild.

Click here for information on obtaining an absentee ballot. The application must be received by the County Clerk not later than 7 days prior to the election unless you apply in person up to 3pm the day prior to the election.

West Morris is seeking community volunteers to serve on the various action teams needed to fulfill the strategies and goals developed by the Long Range Planning Council. Action team members will help administrators and staff develop and execute the tactics that support the Long Range Plan 2007-2012 (pdf) approved by the Board of Education during the September 24 Regular Board meeting. Teams will involve:

The West Morris Regional High School District is a member of, and fully accredited by, the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools and the New Jersey State Department of Education.The WMRHSD serves two public high schools in western Morris County, New Jersey:

• West Morris Central High School (WMC)
• West Morris Mendham High School (WMM)

All five constituent districts are separate and independent municipalities and support unrelated K-8 elementary school districts.The WMRHSD offers a comprehensive curriculum and delivers a high quality education that responds to the needs of more than 2,400 high school students and their families and is designed to prepare students for life after graduation. An independent survey by a national consulting firm ranked the district in the top 9% of the nation's schools in meeting parents' needs. Board of Education

The WMRHSD Board of Education (BOE) consists of nine volunteers, each of whom is voted into the position by their respective constituent districts. The general mandatory powers and duties of the Board are defined by New Jersey statutes. Functions encompass policy formulation and evaluation, education planning and financial oversight. The Board is also responsible for keeping the local community informed about the WMRHSD and for keeping its members and school staff informed about the wishes of the public.Refer to the Board of Education web page for more information.

Superintendent

Anthony di Battista, Superintendent of Schools, also serves as the chief executive officer of the Board Of Education and is responsible for the administration and general supervision of the WMRHSD in accordance with Board policies and New Jersey statutes.The Superintendent is supported by a network of experienced high school administrators who direct academic, athletic and other school programs. Assisting the Superintendent in carrying out business functions is the School Business Administrator (L. Douglas Pechanec). Business functions include oversight of the planning, preparation and interpretation of the annual school budget, purchasing, bid specification preparation and day-to-day business operations. Teaching Staff

All full-time WMRHSD teachers meet or exceed state recommended standards for "highly qualified." Nearly 60% hold advanced degrees. The WMRHSD requires that all full-time teachers participate in staff professional development programs and undergo regular performance reviews. Teachers new to the WMRHSD participate in a mentoring program and are assessed by the Director of Staff Development and/or the Director of Special Services for instructional mastery, among other things. The WMRHSD places a strong emphasis on using technology-based teaching methodologies to supplement traditional teaching techniques. WMRHSD has one of the most extensive assistive technology programs in the state and teachers and aides are among the state's most technically proficient.
