Members of the West Morris Central HS Unified Soccer Team were honored Monday evening with a special proclamation from Mayor Matthew Murello. The team was selected as the official Unified Soccer Team of the NY Red Bulls for the 2022/2023 season and participated in two pre-game matches against participating Unified clubs from New York and Atlanta Georgia at Red Bull Stadium earlier in the spring. Coaches Martin O’Toole (pictured left) and Karin Buchanan have devoted many joyful hours to supporting these student athletes. “We would not be where we are today without the support of the district, community, families and our amazing student athletes!”
The Unified Soccer Team is playing this Saturday, August 26 at the Red Bulls practice facility in Whippany at 12:00 p.m. and will travel to Philadelphia on Labor Day weekend for an away match. Unified Sports is inspired by a simple principle: training together and playing together is a quick path to friendship and understanding. The addition of a Unified Soccer Team at West Morris Central High School has enriched the school’s culture and cultivated new friendships among athletes and students.
