8th Grade Incoming Special Education Freshman Parent Articulation Nights Information

The WMRHSD offers a comprehensive program of specialized services and programs to meet the needs of students with varying disabilities and to provide each student a successful high school experience.

Students may become eligible for special services through a formalized process of evaluation. To determine eligibility for services after assessment, an individualized program meeting is conducted. The Child Study Team will work with the student and parents / guardians to develop and execute an Individualized Education Plan (IEP). In most cases the IEP provides an academic structure that parallels the regular high school program but is flexible enough to accommodate the student's specific instructional needs. All special education curricula address the New Jersey Core Curriculum Contents Standard, and for purposes of GPA and rank are considered Studies Level. (See the Program of Studies)

Contact the Child Study Team at each high school for more information or to make a student referral.

Under the provision of Director of Services Michael Reinknecht, the Special Services Department provides for district-wide ancillary services through the Child Study Team personnel, speech/language specialists, special education teachers, nurses and other professionals.

For students who require and benefit from an alternative educational/classroom environment, the WMRHSD offers the Behavioral Support Program and Home Instruction.
