When I first moved to New Jersey and began teaching chemistry and physics at West Morris Central High School over 20 years ago, a student asked me if I was a scientist or a teacher.
After obtaining a degree in chemistry from the University of Pittsburgh I worked in allergy, immunology, and diabetes research labs in which one of my projects ironically included the development of PCR-based virus identification methods. At night I earned my Master's degree in Education from Duquesne University and later taught high school chemistry in Pittsburgh before moving to New Jersey in 1997 to teach multiple levels of chemistry and physics at West Morris Central High School. Later, I completed a Master's degree in Educational Administration from Rutgers University and became an assistant principal and high school principal in other school districts.
I am thrilled to be part of the West Morris Regional High School District in my current role as Assistant Superintendent in which I strive to improve policy and practices in curriculum, instruction, personnel, the use of technology, and ultimately, the student experience.
