2006 - 2011 LONG RANGE PLAN

NEW: DISTRICT LONG-RANGE PLANNING INFORMATION

The Long Range Plan is the official district document which identifies, plans, develops and executes all education programs and business operations for the next five years.

The West Morris Regional High School District Board of Education (BOE) believes that a successful plan requires input from school administrators, faculty, students and the communities it serves.

The district has begun developing goals and strategies for 2006 - 2011. This is your opportunity to play a key role in the planning process by making your opinions known on important strategic issues with financial consequences. For example, past plans resulted in curriculum and building design changes and new professional training programs for teachers.

The Long Range Planning Council is seeking community volunteers to assist in the planning and / or execution of the 2006 - 2011 Long Range Plan.

The Council will be forming two teams:

Planning Committee Team (membership now full)

* Meet on evening of May 18 and all day on May 19, 2007, to develop the Plan. The meeting will be hosted by Rutgers University at the Eagleton Institute of Politics in New Brunswick.

* Finalize strategies and develop objectives.

Action Teams

* Identify and execute the tactics that support the strategies and objectives defined by the Planning Committee Team.

The BOE will announce formally in the coming months this once-every-five year opportunity to have a major impact on the future direction of the district's educational goals. Meanwhile, if you think you would like to participate in the Planning Action Team or an Action Team, contact bmcclurken@wmhsd.org.

If you are unable to devote time to this effort, consider attending a BOE meeting. We anticipate at this time that the Long Range Planning Council will be presenting its initial recommendations to the BOE in July during a Regular Board Meeting.
