WMRHSD PARENT FAQ's
The following are answers to some of the questions most frequently received from parents by the WMRHSD Board Office:
Who is eligible to enroll in the WMRHSD?
The WMRHSD is a New Jersey public school regional district open to high school students residing in the Morris County communities of Chester Borough, Chester Township, Mendham Borough, Mendham Township and Washington Township.
What is the difference between WMC and WMM?
Both high schools offer the same academic programs with the exception of the German language class, which is offered only at WMC.
Since the WMRHSD is a district, can a student switch schools?
Yes, but only for specific reasons and with prior approval from the Superintendent of Schools. If approved, then the student's parent/guardian will be responsible for transportation.
Does the WMRHSD accept out-of-district students?
No. While in the past the WMRHSD accepted a handful of tuition students from nearby communities, we can no longer do so because of overcrowding from rising student enrollments.
I am building a home in a WMRHSD municipality but don't expect that it will be completed until later in the school year. While it's under construction I'll be renting a home outside the district. Can I enroll my child at WMRHSD at the beginning of the year so they won't have to switch schools later?
The WMRHSD has a policy that covers this and other scenarios. Depending on your particular set of circumstances you may be required to provide support documentation and pay tuition for a certain period of time. Contact the Guidance Office to discuss your particular situation.
How come each WMHRSD municipality funds the District at a different tax rate?
Each WMRHSD municipality funds the district based on a state funding formula. For more information about WMRHSD funding, click here.
I disagree with the way a teacher graded a paper/principal responded to an event that happened on school grounds.
These kind of situations are managed by each high school's administration and don't fall under the responsibilities and mandates of the Board of Education. Refer to the Board of Education page for more information on its role.
I'm unhappy with my child's bus stop/route. What can I do to change it?
Each school day the WMRHSD provides transportation to over 2,000 students. Bus routes are selected with the safety of students given the highest priority. The number of buses available to the WMRHSD is limited. In addition to safety considerations, bus stops are chosen to accommodate the greatest number of students. If you are concerned about the safety of your child's bus stop/route, please contact the Transportation Coordinator, Sherry Faiella, at http://www.sfaiella@wmhsd.org or (908) 879-6404, ext. 1882.
